What is a home battery?

It is a battery fitted in your home to store electricity. When your home needs power, it can take this from your battery rather than using your energy supplier.

How does a home battery work?

Your battery sends power to your devices, appliances and lights when required. You can also use the energy to charge your electric vehicle. Around 95% of homes with a home battery use solar panels. Solar panels can power your home during the day and you can use the energy from the battery at night. If you do not have solar panels your battery will provide power as much as it can before it runs out. Once this happens it will charge itself from the grid, crucially though, it will do so during the cheapest times using for example, Octopus Flux.
